2Hopefully they get an update out soon  Nov 19, 2010 By John S. Dean "John"
Just arrived, but seems pretty buggy in the interface. All the other games have no problems showing the "hand cursor" so you know where your are in relationship to the buttons to press. This game seems to have them about half the time. The other half, there's a button, and moving your arm around with no guidance on the screen, it's a hit and miss trying to orient exactly where the system thinks your hand is so you can guess which way to move it to hit the button.

Happens every time we play.

Game controls are more of a pain than anything else as well, and this is by far the least responsive Kinect game of all the ones I've got so far.

Doing the skiing is pretty impossible, as it just can't seem to correctly see my movements nor my sons. So frustration ensues and the game gets put away in favor of the ones that play well.

The kendo game seemed like it would be pretty cool, but that's another with not great body movements for control, and another instance where you can do things and the character just sits there on screen, no input being taken in by the system.

It could be a decent game, but they're going to have to put out some patches first to make it actually playable before it becomes enjoyable.

1Randomly Recognizes you  Nov 19, 2010 By William James Howell
My kids and I were really excited about this game. We choose to wait for it instead of kinect sports.

But when we got it home today -- first thing we noticed -- it was a battle to select Next or Back.
In all the other games, that I have played the sensor has been quick and responsive. In this one it works sometimes then stops.

The game play: This should have been a great area with as many games as there are, but it freezes like your controller is broken stuck to the left -- of course this is only sometimes -- other times it works great.
Multilayer becomes even more frustrating -- one of the players controls could work fine and the others not or both work fine or both mess up.
More frustrating yet is the movements to play the game. You can't be sure which is the correct way to move because the same movement doesn't always work.

And the absolutely worst part of this game, is the tutorial. Here, let me explain 10 moves one at a time. You will have to click next after each one. Good you remember all of those Now we will have you practice the first one -- what you forgot that one ok back up and go through the entire instruction screen again.

I can't recommend this game -- I expected it to be great -- and all I can say is don't make my mistake -- Stay away from this one -- get it next year for $5 dollars used if you must try it.

I don't even see how patches can fix it. It would be clunky even if it worked great.

1Yep, it's that bad  Nov 28, 2010 By Carrie Causey "Carrie"
I agree with every other poster - it is that bad. Glitchy, impossible to navigate the menus, can't hit the buttons, extremely short game play then loads of animations, doesn't track your movements correctly.

Sorry, Deca - this sucks.

1Very Buggy; Doesn't Recognize Movements  Nov 20, 2010 By Stephanie Hopkins
I think this is only my second review on any product, but this one compels me.

Yeah, what they all said. What a dissappointment. There is no "hand" indicator that comes up to help with menus. You either eenie meenie miney mo happen to hit the right spot and get the circular motion that something's happening, or not. Just being able to maneuver the menus for next, back, etc is a "game" in and of itself. VERY frustrating.

The archery, which is the one I was most interested in, is the most buggy of all. The hand motion to release the arrow isn't recognized 70% of the time.

They're going to have to come out with some MAJOR patches and updates to make this one even playable. My brother (31) me (35) niece (9) and nephew (7) all gave up after an hour. We were all excited for this game. But it's torture, not fun.

3It's no THAT bad  Nov 27, 2010 By Dominique W
First off, as soon as we popped this disc in there was a message for an update. I've never played it without the update.

Second, for the price point, the games are not that bad. I bought it for paintball and dodgeball but ended up really liking tennis.

Third, don't use the tutorials at first. While the game is loading there are graphics to show the key moves needed for each game. There have been many complaints about the tutorials. My husband got caught up in black hole of tutorials and they are about 10 times longer than the games themselves.

With that being said, I almost returned this game unopened after reading the reviews. It would be a better rental than a purchase. I liked the tennis so it worked out ok.

There are many cons. The graphics are more primitive than some of the other Kinect games I've played.

I'm not a fan of the fact that there is no "guest" option. This game makes you create a profile or use one already on your xbox. Which would be okay but my youngest children do not need an xbox profile.

Multi player options are limited and confusing at best.

The body movements this game picks up aren't as specific as other games. The game shoes right hand vs left hand on the screen. Other games just show the hands. It's a nice change. However, back the body movement recognition, it is easy for another player to step into the game and assist. For example, one of my kids were having a hard time with a sport. His older brother would walk behind him, do the movement and help him. The game accepted this as the original players movement.

The menu is a mess. For example, if you are finished playing one sport and want to change, you must keep hitting the "back" button until you get back to the screen to change the sport. This, of everything, is the most disappointing part of the game. It makes it too difficult for younger children to play.

The games themselves are short. There are many fillers and scenes that can be skipped. Kendo is an example of this.

Overall, the games are not THAT bad. I don't consider the disc a waste of money. It's not a game for kids as it will easily frustrate them. It's also not one I'm discussing with others either. I still, hands down, recommend the Kinect Sports.

My suggestions for future updates are to fix that menu issue. If you can create a game, you should have the skill to devise a menu that the users can navigate and not something that looks like a first timer created. Secondly, the body movement portion of this game needs tweaked. It needs to be more precise. I can live with the extra fillers because I can skip through them. I can live with the black hole tutorials because I'll never journey into them. The menu and movements are an issue and DO need to be addressed ASAP.

If you're thinking about this one. It's still an okay value considering the number of games on the disc. If you're still unsure, rent it or wait for used copies to go way way down in price.
